Deleting non-recurring older calendar items in Outlook 2010

Deleting/Archiving older outlook calendar items in Outlook 2010 is a bit hard to find. Of course, you want to delete it as the expired appointments end up taking a lot of space on the folders. Especially, when people attach large files in the meeting request (which is extremely annoying!).

One subtlety is to ensure that you don’t delete recurring meetings that were setup a while ago:

  1. Go to “Calendar” items.
  2. Click on the “View” menu item.
  3. Click on “Change view” setting and select the “List” option. This view will show you the “Recurrence Pattern” as well and is sorted on date.
  4. With this, you can easily select past items and either “Move” them into an archive folder or delete them entirely.
