Dear Reader,
You have reached this page and perhaps it’s time to know a little about me.
I am a Bangalore-based eco entrepreneur, published author and independent journalist with stints in Deccan Herald, The Times of India and The New Indian Express spread over 12 years. I played an instrumental role in setting up a highly advanced zero-waste system with the help of co-volunteers for my community in 2011-12 and the same was picked by The Times of India in 2015 as the best model to be emulated across Karnataka.
Three years ago, I founded Endlessly Green – Solid Waste Management Solutions. It specialises in designing and manufacturing aerobic composters for home and community composting purposes. Several apartments, corporates and schools have been processing their kitchen and garden waste using our composters in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and other places.
I have been able to gather expertise in large-scale composting and my blog ‘Endlessly Green’—www.savitahiremath.com—has been a go-to destination for SWM practitioners. It bagged the ‘Social Media for Empowerment’ international award in 2018.
My book Endlessly Green: Solid Waste Management for Everyone was published jointly by Simon & Schuster and Yoda Press in June 2021. Among other SWM aspects, the book covers composting—both the science and the art—in great detail. It bagged the ‘Honour Book’ in the business category at the Green Literature Festival, December 2022.
I have delivered talks at ISRO, ISRO Telemetry Tracking & Command Network (ISTRAC), National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research, Indian Council of Medical Research, Hasiru Dala, Greenpeace-Mumbai, several apartments, corporates, schools and colleges over the last 12 years focusing on the simple techniques to compost both kitchen and garden waste at home and in communities and simple sustainable lifestyle tips.
I am also the Lead Campaigner for ‘SwachaGraha Compost Connect’ – an initiative by SWMRT, Bangalore. Being a Trustee of SWMRT, I have been playing an instrumental role in persuading farmers to buy compost from apartments (who have it in excess) and apply it to their farmland. Between 2020-22, more than 300 tonnes of compost reached farmland.
Thank you,
– Savita Hiremath

We try to raise awareness and encourage people to set up community waste management system wherever they live. Your blog is very precious and can help them to achieve this. I will recommend it. Thank you and please continue. Thanks to people like you, this world is becoming better.

Great blog and I love what you’re doing. Very impressive. Would be great if you could make some videos of the great work you’re doing and post them on YouTube. But I know that can be a lot of work. We also have a little web site that talks about home composting – ezcompost.info. Thanks for your great work! Om Shanti, -Advait in Kerala

Hi, sorry for the delayed reply. I am pasting this response which I wrote for another comment.
We use an old one which was manufactured by a local engineer. I think you skip that and consider options from MK Associates. They have a range of shredders. Also, check out my review on Tallboy from Riteways. They have got a good shredder, too. Beyond this, I have no idea about any other shredder that selling in the market. Thanks. Hope it helps.

Hello Ma’am
Greetings from SK Engineers!
Myself Darshil Panchal from SK Engineers company, Gujarat.
We, SK Engineers, have developed new design equipment for the purpose of waste management of various types of waste including Paper waste, farm waste, plastic waste, etc.
The machine is a Manual baler machine. It works on the same principle as that of a Hydraulic baler machine but works completely on manual power.
Such type of equipment is also being employed for the BALING of COTTON where the harvested cotton has to be transported to be sent to the cotton processing plants.

Dear Madam,
We are Pune based manufacturing company only supplying composting machines since 2011…
We supply batch and drum composters..and have supplied about 200 nos so far which use 18 day process for composting.
AT tata nagpur we were one of the bidders but we could not get the order becos they wanted some thing economical and which occupies less space….We had warned the TATA Reality about the consequences…
Also housing soieities have to take builders headon…Under the RERA at builder has to maintain all the facilities in clusing STP,OWC etc for 5 eyars…so you can take the builder at task and make them do the correct thing.
Unfortunately, Bangalore we have very less installations since people in bangalore also buy rampantly THESE HEATING MACHINES…FROM LOCAL VENDORS…
WE HAVE ALSO INTRODUCING BIOGAS FOR THE HOMES WHICH CAN SUPPLIMENT YOU THE COOKING GAS…
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONATCT US FOR ANY ORGANIC WASTE RELATED ISSUES, HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
Regards,
Mahesh Shastri
